The answer is simple, Pudge is the most picked hero in the game (not in divine). I would say most of the first pick pudge's are scared that the opponent will pick him. I used to spam Pudge and this was the case for me (Pudge had 50% pickrate then). I wouldn't say he is very weak, you just have to draft around him (don't pick pudge 4 and rubick 5 for example). Then you also have the general toxicity when you have him highlighted from your teammates, I remember a game where the offlaner refused to offlane because I picked Pudge and he went jungle losing us the game automaticly. There are also lots of terrible Pudges around which can't hook and go Atos first item and don't do anything in lane.
Pudge has always been the Pikachu of Dota, he's fun to play even if you're not good with him
People pick pudge because he's fun to play. People pick Invoker because he's fun to play. Simple as fuck what's the point of this thread again
Is "it's fun to play" really a justifiable reason? I mean, picking Tiny and tossing teammates in the middle of 3 enemy heroes is also fun.
oh my, personally it is preferrable for me to have a pudge in my team. idk why, maybe because he's cute? as cute as me?
because 360 pure dmg is fun, also enemy rarely target you at late game because no one cares attacking a fat fuck with 3k hp when they can get gold one hitting lion or cm or sneak killing 1800 hp Jugg with 1 lina combo

pudge is seriously crazy i think if you land almost all your hooks,this guy is seriously a threat if he kills alot(got alot of item)
Can be played pos 3 - 5, scales in lategame, affect team psychology, forces to get more wards, ulti that goes through bkb, blademail scalable with heaps, can punish hard offlaner(s) with hook under t1, can hard punish mid low level with a smoke and hook under tower, etc...
i hate pudge pickers . zero impact in lane. and most pudge picker try to play him as a core. he is a pos 4 support.support.
and if enemy team picks him, i crush the lane. but get hooked once mid to late game and its all for naught.
My biggest issue with pudge pickers are that they intentionally sack the offlane. Why give the opponent carry a free lane.
I've played many games as position 4 offlane and solo offlane to know how it impacts the game.
When i play carry or safelane support i love when the opponent have a solo offlaner, it makes my job so fucking easy and if the carry can handle itself 1on1 i can rotate and gank other lanes.
why do ppl pick am? that hero is not fun at all. u just farm and lose in disgusting manner and everyone hates you.
Stats show he is a safe pick, highest pick rate with an okay win rate means the hero is good

Why do people think pudge is some sort of universal first pick guaranteed win hero?
What i see is that if the opponent play like noobs pudge work, if they actually are not tilted and want to win they just pick strong laners and shut down the offlaner and rotate to win the game.
Pudge cant do shit if the opponent got a brain.
