frost nova is definitely more value for trading in dual lanes than frostbite. think about how much mana ur spending to deal how much damage. nova deals damage to 2 heroes while frostbite only deals damage to 1. so in most lanes where u arent sure its a kill lane or not, u want nova, but if u have maybe a trilane where u have a strong kill combo onto 1 hero, or ur laning against an enemy like chen or ench who use creeps, then frostbite is good. on top of that frost nova is good for securing ranged creeps while also harassing. dont forget that nova slowing ms and attack speed is also good for trading. basically my point is that its not always about kill potential, there are other factors that go into laning. pushing the wave is also not always a bad thing especially if the cm pulls the enemy hard camp and u and her farm it. it just depends on how the lane is played.
its definitely possible that maybe in ur specific game frostbite would be better, or that this player didnt use nova in a way that makes in better than frostbite, but im just speaking generally.
even in trilanes, if you dont have a very strong kill combo than nova is still better, in fact nuking 3 enemy heroes makes it super value.
nova is much better a harassment tool than frostbite due to cast range and atk slow. If u look at guide, 90% of the pros level nova first.

First some context. This is a postion 4 cm in the offlane. Her lane partner is a clinkz. I try to explain to her before the creeps even spawn to lvl up frost bite but she insisted on frost nova. I try to tell her since we are in the offlane. The creeps are at the enemy tower when we drag the creeps back casting nova will just push the creep wave back into the enemy. Also since i am a range hero. I can do way more damage if the enemy is stunned for 1.5-2 secs than if they are just slowed for 4 secs. The slow is only 20% barely anything and once they move under tower they are safe again. So a stun will greatly increase our kill potential over a slow.
Am i wrong? Am i going crazy why is such an easy concept so hard for people to understand. If i am wrong please explain it so i understand the counterargument.
