overall 14 support heroes I am pretty good to very good at playing 188-90 win/loss or 68% win rate.
so....you can win with supports. It's harder in solo que. But the main thing is you just need to communicate better since the people don't know you. So when you gank, say you are going to do it before you try. Then when you are about to attack say "go go go" ppl will follow almost all the time if you do that.
When you call a missing hero, don't just type "mia" most players won't even notice that. Say something scarier like "pudge going top with haste get back!". Nubs will actually hide then. Pudge haste wasted.
Don't just ward the map and hope for good luck. The bad pubs you are given in solo MM won't see it anyway. You have to tell them what is happening and then do something about it.
When you see that your carry is going to be ganked in 20-30 seconds...and seriously pub ganks are always telegraphed far far in advance...when you see it go there and save him. Then give him the extra regen you were carrying so he can keep farming. When you do this the random pub carry will listen later on when you ask him to rax instead of diving into the fountain to try for 1 more kill.
This is how you win solo que games as support.

Thats the thing, in order to be a good support you need semi decent players. When your stuck into ELO hell you will get idiots who will autoattack to death.
If you are really that low, then the other team will have autoattackers also. In that case I recommend getting Lone Druid or Lycan. These heroes can farm quickly even if your nub team lost map control. Just get tower pushing power on them and look for opportunities. Both of these heroes can out base race a typical entire low level pub team so just do that and win the game.
Win 4 games in a row and you will not have autoattackers in the 5th game of solo que. You will have weak players, but not so weak they can't do anything.
When your team really sucks, win by pushing...

That's a "limited hero pool" game. Only real nubs are supposed to play those what did you expect?
@Blunt: yea but when your teammates lose their lanes you can quite often turn the game by ganking with tp. ppl love to overextend in publics bc fighting is more fun than farming
@kärkki: got qop, killed enemy mid twice while my safelane tri (alche, sk, lion) was losing to duo (ogre/mirana). the 4 idiots weren't able to get a single kill without my presence, I've been snowballing so hard that our team kills was a result of my kills + assists, literally. we lost.

get lvl 7 with maxed out dark pact
gank if u somehow get good rune (haste invis)
if not just sit in jungle and stack/kill camps with darkpact while healing up with ur ulti even if u were shut down in lane heavily with 0 farm at lvl 6 u should get shadow blade within 15 minute (10 is very good) then just shadowblade > attack > pounce > dark pact > ulti if needed if not just run back/heal at fountain for mana and repeat forever until u can solo all 5 of them
works 70% of the time for me especialy if i get to go safelane and pull or farm (mid works too)
