How can I become a better leader? How to follow better when not leading? in General Discussion

    Hey guys,

I'm just approaching my 500th(still newb I know!) game in dota, and I'm looking to become a better leader amongst my friends. We are mid tier players and most of us can play varied roles within a team to a reasonable degree of success. The group I queue with generally look to me to lead. I'm vocal from start to finish. I have good map awareness and call missings for all lanes, not just my own. I enjoy a good gank, and I generally pickup slack where its needed, maybe in lane, or warding. So it's sort of natural I fall into this role.

But I want to be better.

I need to learn better language to encourage my team to be more cautious or more aggressive. I need to learn team and opponent combinations better to anticipate what's going to hit each lane and when. I need to learn to be less critical of mistakes and personally lean more towards encouragement rather than the opposite. This is my weakest spot, I believe personally. So it's what I'm focusing on in the next 15-25 games.

#1. What are some things you guys would recommend to becoming a good leader in the game?
#2. How can you motivate a team to bounce back from a careless first blood, or series of deaths?
#3. What language do you use to encourage conservative play?
#4. How can I inspire my team?

Lastly, when all of this isn't the case, and I'm not asked to be a leader. How should I deal with a team that gives up needless deaths and won't listen to back calls? I don't want to be the guy that says "Well, I did my part, you all failed."

    no flame plz im new

      beat'em up

      Quick maffs

I think the most important is to know what your friends can do and what they cant. Dont expect the new one to stomp. Dont ask them to play heroes they cant.

Dont get stressed, this is important, its just a game.

If you know that the enemy team has a better late game ask your friend to push and dont accept things like " wait i am going to farm a item or two ", so always explain why they are wrong if you know that they are wrong.

Plus, try to learn a lot of mechanics and theory of dota so you actually can know why you are losing or why you are winning and what to do next.

Personally i dont think you should worry that much about fellings, i am sure that you are not playing with cry babes so yeah dont get mad and dont let the others get mad.

If you check my winrate with my friends is pretty low. I have a friend that play the game very casual and i dont even expect to win with him :P so i just have fun.

Alright, I'll take this into account. Where can I find more information on dota theory?
