So I was messing with my settings and I was changing the interp and my lerp is at 33.3ms and it was yellow. I deleted the settings and now its at 66.6ms and its white. I'm having hero shuttering problems and I want to know if this lerp could be a reason why it is doing this.

The hero models freeze every 4 seconds or so for like .5 seconds. It could be that so many people are on the Internet, or maybe my wireless settings got screwed up again. Is there any clarification on this lerp feature and is less good?

Though it's not a description of what lerp actually is, in counterstrike, people desired lower lerp values. On LAN, you have 0 lerp. Lower lerp corresponded to "better registration (of shots fired hitting the model as you saw it)".

But in dota if i change certain settings, my lerp will be 33ms and it will be yellow (which is bad?) but if i remove the settings my lerp is 66 and its white. So is lower better in dota terms or does it depend on your framerate and computer?

If you want to play good, DON'T play on wireless

there is nothing wrong with wireless. This has just been a problem since my power went out. I think some configuration didn't get saved correctly. I got a powerhouse adapter.

lerp is basically the extent to which your system is predicting what happens before your computer actually receives the data from the servers.

For example you'll notice as a spectator on dotaTV that the lerp is different, and you often have cases like Chakram extending past where it was casted before it suddenly jumps back and spins on the spot, which usually doesn't happen in normal games. This is the result of the system making more predictions before it parses the data from the server.

Lerp also used to be used for smoothing. For each update from the server your client will interpolate between the old data and new data to stop the joggyness caused by the low sample rate of network data. As rendering often outpaces network updates, you gradually interpolate towards the new player locations etc. to make everything look smoother.

Don't play on wireless & use a wireless mouse. That's like almost doubling ur input lag. I mean if you don't have a fast gaming laptop, getting 3-5 lag spikes in 5 mintue is already annoying enuff, once of those spikes could be during a game and 1/4 of a second could mean win or lose. Changing batteries during a game could mean enemy will resume before you can even replace batteries even if you have them next to the mouse.
