Smurfing? I don't think I am. I mean, I have a negative win rate. Just been watching Dota Cinema guides and looking at reddit stuff.
I would suggest just playing ranked. Games are generally better and people seem to try more. Unranked is a little more laid back, so it's whatever you're looking for.
its litteraly same shit
retards everywhere
i guess more tryhard ppls who try to get high winrate are in non ranked games
bollocks... unranked taught me most things needed in short timeframe with decent mmr to compensate afterwards. BUT once you calibrate unranked becomes sad hell :(
The only difference i see is that there are more good heroes picked in ranked and more flaming if u play bad. but idk about how good ppl play, cuz somehow i have very high skill on normal games in solo q, wish there was way of finding out hidden mmr.
I enjoy solo, in party game starts becoming unfair unlease its 5 stack or u have 5k plus ppl getting matched vs 4ks
Yes and no. I played a lot of those 'create a lobby' games for a long while before ever playing a real game. I'd been watching competitive Dota for a long time, like 4-5 months beforehand. Just never actually felt like playing because I was told about the bad community. (No offence to you guys. You seem great. lol)
No, I'm not making fun of you guys. Didn't mean to come off that way if I did! ^^' Just saying that I heard a lot of bad stuff about this community. Wanted to be clear I wasn't talking about you guys in particular.
My experience:
Ranked
+ Less skill disparity (until you're 5k+ most people in game will be near you in skill, unless you play weird hours)
+faster queue times maybe (negligible)
- More annoying nerdragers
- People give up easier and afk jungle till you lose
Unranked
+ More fun and balanced game modes IMO (RD or AR is way more interesting than allpick)
-Weird unbalanced teams with huge MMR disparity, especially in less-played modes
-Long queue times (negligible)
End of the day it's all the same s***, so just play the game mode you like the most, for me it's probably AR/SD/RD
u should party up with people for ranked matches, feel free to add me tho. ( just an normal 3k scrub looking for people to play with )
Trixie - you should be pretty good to get into very high bracket that quick, especially cause u are completely new player. Yeah go and play ranked, i mean why not. Dont worry about other people, just do what makes you happy and feels right :)
@Trixie♥Pixie:
There is almost no reason not to play ranked. The main difference between unranked and ranked is that ranked is more competitive, if you draft bad or do poorly people will get mad. The level of tryhard is usually higher than unranked.
If you don't feel like playing more tryhard you might as well stay unranked, if you find unranked boring because of how casual people play go ranked.
You can play solo or party depending on what you prefer. Some people rather want strangers, others rather want people they know.
To the whole community thing:
The dota community sees itself as cancer but it is far better than most gaming communites, compared to LoL, dota has an amazing community. Dotabuff does not represent the dota community, since this is a statssite most people who post here are in the upper percentage of the skillset. The Dotabuff community are usually a bunch of eliteists (late 4k - 6k people) whereas the normal community is 1-3kish.
to trixie: here's my opposite opinion.
At 100games in, do not play rank. 100 games seems to still be at the experimental stage, where it should be fun.
Just have fun at normal matchmaking until you have a particular hero/gaming style you like and are good with, then go to rank.
Otherwise going now, you're likely going to start at 2-3k mmr and play with tons of idiots who like to flame. At least there's no stress in normal while you build up your skills and have fun!
I would play more unranked if people didnt abandon 90% of unranked matches once they start to lose
i know he is a strong hero but still. Most people can't handle the manliness
btw @ Trixie♥Pixie:
you should prolly get a less gay name.

I'm a relatively new Dota player from Starcraft 2. It seems fun, and I've played about 100 games. Should I go to ranked? I only have knowledge from my own experience, and a shitload of guides and watching professional games.
