Ah yes. You are a complete failure, cant find a high paying job and dont have the inspiration to make your own start-ups so the only solution is to overthrow the pig dog billionaires who likely worked their asses off for their money xddddd
Ah yes. You are a complete failure, cant find a high paying job and dont have the inspiration to make your own start-ups so the only solution is to overthrow the pig dog billionaires who likely worked their asses off for their money xddddd
once i'm done with my degree i'll make decent money (not billionaire obv. but way above average), i don't see how ppl think leftist policies = dude on welfare who can't make it in life
dont have the inspiration to make your own start-ups
for each successful startup (!= billionaire btw, theres a shitton of successful startups but even then theres only a handful of googles and amazons), there's thousands of startups that lead people into bankruptcy; i think u have no idea what ure talking about
so the only solution is to overthrow the pig dog billionaire
the problem with billionaires isn't that they "redeemed themselves" in our society, worked hard and contributed a lot; quite the opposite actually. they pay lower taxrates than low-middle income people and contribute barely anything to our society.
also consider that being a billionaire doesn't only mean that you have economic power; billionaires have massive political power which is inherently anti democratic
worked their asses off for their money
this is a common myth for 2 things: 1) most rich ppl inherit their wealth from their parents; they basically didnt do shit and 2) those who did start their own companies didn't start from scratch; usually they started in middle-upper class families, with a good education, investors to back them up etc. for every startup that u see that works out, theres thousands of startups that lead ppl into bankruptcy, hell i even notice this at my uni where ppl are jumping on the "startup train" just to work 50-80h a week for eventually nothing
to top it off, big businesses such as amazon or google have a massive monopoly on the market; being a startup in their scene is basically impossible. there cant be more than a tiny handful of billionaires. the 1% of the 1%.
believing capitalism is some lottery where everyone has the same chance to win is just wrong
(also i would like to add that even if you assert that out society is completely meritocratic (obviously not even remotely true) and everybody has their fair shot at success this still doesn't justify the existence of 99% that don't make it and now have to live shitty lives and toil in misery until they die, no matter how "deserved" was the success of the 1% who did - especially since there is absolutely no neccessity for that kind of wealth disparity to take place for society to function)
nobody insulted her tho (not yet at least)
shes the one who came in here screeching because people dared express their political opinions on a f o r u m
once i'm done with my degree i'll make decent money (not billionaire obv. but way above average)
Sorry I thought going to Uni and getting a job is for wagecucks.
i don't see how ppl think leftist policies = dude on welfare who can't make it in life
I dont believe this. I am left of center myself and im telling you that siezing billionaire wealth isnt leftist policy its just marxism, which by the way, doesnt work. People who are hardline far left/right are almost always failiures or outsiders hence why they crave overarching political change. People who have succeeded or are content with their lives dont want change.
or each successful startup (!= billionaire btw, theres a shitton of successful startups but even then theres only a handful of googles and amazons), there's thousands of startups that lead people into bankruptcy; i think u have no idea what ure talking about
Yes. Obviously. I never said all start ups succeed im just saying you dont have the imagination to make a successful start-up yourself. If you had the potential to make billions u wouldnt be salty about people being billionaires.
the problem with billionaires isn't that they "redeemed themselves" in our society, worked hard and contributed a lot; quite the opposite actually. they pay lower taxrates than low-middle income people and contribute barely anything to our society.
This is just horse shit. Yes, there are bad billionaires. There are bad people in every tax bracket but some billionaires donate insane amounts of wealth to charity funny enough. And buddy, legally billionaires fall into the highest % tax bracket possible in practically every country. In the USA anyone who earns over half a million yearly is taxed 37%. In the UK, anyone who earns over £150,000 pays 45%!!
also consider that being a billionaire doesn't only mean that you have economic power; billionaires have massive political power which is inherently anti democratic
Marxism is also inherently anti democratic.
to top it off, big businesses such as amazon or google have a massive monopoly on the market; being a startup in their scene is basically impossible. there cant be more than a tiny handful of billionaires. the 1% of the 1%.
Amazon and Google can be seen as the most successful company within their specific niche. The way people make successful start-ups is to corner a specific element of a market, establish yourself as the best at what you do, and then diversify. Amazon started off as an online book market and Google was just a search engine. Find something specific that your start-up can excel at and then corner other markets.
The only billionaires that should be stripped of wealth are tax dodgers, and criminal oligarchs. etc. If someone gained their money legitimately then sorry buddy, that is their fucking money that they can do whatever they want with. Pretty sure you wouldnt want some edgy teen from the internet telling you how you are supposed to spend your cash.
shes the one who came in here screeching because people dared express their political opinions on a f o r u m
Yes. This isnt a political forum and I can't help but get disgusted by pseudo-intellectualism when I see it
...
Also I am not going to get into some stupid political argument with people on the internets cause its too opinion-based as a subject, I just want you to know that the redistribution of wealth has been tried and failed before and is just a retarded idea in general x) That's all folks!
yea its a dota forum and this thread has been off-topic since its creation. if you dont wish to engage in non-dota related topics maybe dont fucking click on it. i am disgusted by your pretentiousness as well but im not going to throw a fit about it
^ Yes. That amounts to about a paragraph or two of text that I wrote in maybe 5 minutes. If I wanted to argue about this topic I could write pages but its best just to tell people why their opinions dont make much sense and then get out before you get dragged into a back and forth crapfest where nobody actually changes their point of view
This is just horse shit. Yes, there are bad billionaires. There are bad people in every tax bracket but some billionaires donate insane amounts of wealth to charity funny enough.
if theyre donating large amounts of money anyway, why dont we just force all of them to "donate money" to our society? why are charities a replacement for welfare? why do americans think going on gofundme to beg for money so u can go to a hospital is better than having a healthcare system financed by rich people? for every billionaire that donates money to charity (was it bloomberg? he donated 500 million to fight climate change) there is a shitton of billionaires in oil that will spend millions on lobbyists in order to block any political changes to fight climate change
And buddy, legally billionaires fall into the highest % tax bracket possible in practically every country. In the USA anyone who earns over half a million yearly is taxed 37%. In the UK, anyone who earns over £150,000 pays 45%
that is low. during the golden age of capitalism (post war) tax rates of 70%+ were absolutely normal, and it worked. here is germanys tax rates for example:
notice how over time taxes on salary increase while taxes on capital income is lowering? thats the shit im talking about, & this graph only covers the period up to 99. the trend continues though.
Yes. Obviously. I never said all start ups succeed im just saying you dont have the imagination to make a successful start-up yourself. If you had the potential to make billions u wouldnt be salty about people being billionaires.
what if i had the potential? what if i had an amazing idea that will change the world tomorrow; yet i can't "make" a startup due to lack of funds and investors? what if i can't take "time off to work on a project in my garage" simply because i'll starve if i do?
I dont believe this. I am left of center myself
doubt u're center left (maybe socially) but okay
and im telling you that siezing billionaire wealth isnt leftist policy its just marxism, which by the way, doesnt work.
marxism is leftist, and high tax rates have nothing to do with marxism (more social democracy LEFT CENTER type of policy which you should subscribe to)
Marxism is also inherently anti democratic.
marxism leninism, yes, marxism, no. marxism is the most democratic form of society. stripping political power off billionaires is not the same as seizing the means of production or anything like that
If someone gained their money legitimately then sorry buddy, that is their fucking money that they can do whatever they want with.
maybe the u should also think about the premise of believing that they gained their wealth legitimately as well, most billionaires wealth is based on heavy exploitation in one way or another (supporting imperialism/war, producing in the third world, circumventing employment protection laws etc.)
also: idc about billionaires, i'm not salty about them or anything like that. i don't think billionaires are inherently immoral people (i.e. bill gates and warren might be doing good things). the fact that people are even able to accumulate and hoard that much wealth is immoral. this is a systematic problem, not (necessarily) a problem of people being immoral
also, i have the strong feeling you don't know what type of wealth we are talking about. these ppl dont need this much wealth.
for reference, 1% of a billionaires wealth (1 billion!!! not someone with up to 150 billion) is 10.000.000. Investing this at a return rate of 6-8% will yield 600.000-800.000$ A YEAR, assuming you don't reinvest/take more out and bla bla. now imagine what power someone with 150 billion usd in wealth has.
taxing them 90% on their capital gains every year wouldn't change their lifestyle, hell probably even at 99% they'd still have more money a year than most ppl ever will.
cant wait for some western countries to go carbon neutral by as early as 2050 (carbon neutral = produce more in third world and blame climate change on them)
when u read up on stuff and have discussions with ppl who work in the respective fields reality hits u hard (be it envorionmental issues, exploitation by capitalists, unnecessary suffering all around the globe due to profit)
note that this is coming from a person who absolutely dreads taking any action or responibility ever so maybe don't listen to what i say because i'm just a big larping pussy really
na im the same PepeLaugh & yeah I agree, I don't really feel depressed about these things whatsoever. it mostly pushes me further left & towards revolutionary theories and makes me, as you said, angry, simply because it could be such an easily avoidable solution
instead we have some 4Head politicians debating day in and out whether climate change even exists, proposing to ban straws (which would be a good thing, too bad thats like the only action theyll take) or co2 taxes that will mostly affect lower class people than big businesses, while ppl are still being affected by the red scare in 2019 & big oil is dropping millions on lobbying to stop any positive action
currently the greens are on the rise in germany but i doubt they are radical enough to cause positive change & internationally it won't really matter, they're already being demonized by the right as a "culture of bans" cuz they suggest doing insane things such as tempo limits on highways (for less fuel consumption)
To decide once every few years which members of the ruling class is to repress and crush the people through parliament--this is the real essence of bourgeois parliamentarism, not only in parliamentary- constitutional monarchies, but also in the most democratic republics.
[...]
"A working, not a parliamentary body"--this is a blow straight from the shoulder at the present-day parliamentarian country, from America to Switzerland, from France to Britain, Norway and so forth--in these countries the real business of “state” is performed behind the scenes and is carried on by the departments, chancelleries, and General Staffs. parliament is given up to talk for the special purpose of fooling the "common people". This is so true that even in the Russian republic, a bourgeois-democratic republic, all these sins of parliamentarism came out at once, even before it managed to set up a real parliament. The heroes of rotten philistinism, such as the skobelevs and tseretelis, the Chernovs and Avksentyevs, have even succeeded in polluting the Soviets after the fashion of the most disgusting bourgeois parliamentarism, in converting them into mere talking shops. In the Soviets, the “socialist” Ministers are fooling the credulous rustics with phrase-mongering and resolutions. In the government itself a sort of permanent shuffle is going on in order that, on the one hand, as many Socialist-Revolutionaries and Mensheviks as possible may in turn get near the “pie”, the lucrative and honorable posts, and that, on the other hand, the “attention” of the people may be “engaged”. meanwhile the chancelleries and army staffs “do” the business of “state”.
all i can say tho is that im really fucking glad i started reading theory, made me go from social democrat type of person to a solid anti capitalist within a couple months
i didnt watch a lot of her videos, maybe i should do it when i get around to it, only watched the "whats wrong with capitalism" ones
linked it to a right winger before and he said he cant watch it because of her voice SeemsGood (epically triggered)
theres a lot of good theory books that are more refreshing than hard theory i believe, summarizing marx etc. theres also a lot of short books that u might be interested in by lenin that are quite easy to read, but i dont rly know a lot of the former
we should get rid of billionaires for sure (although not kill them)
Ah yes. You are a complete failure, cant find a high paying job and dont have the inspiration to make your own start-ups so the only solution is to overthrow the pig dog billionaires who likely worked their asses off for their money xddddd

decadence would be a cool answer if this was imminent and unavoidable
when it's just a bunch of parasites ruining the world in every concievable way the more appropriate reaction is anger & action
