uh u can pick him into anything actually
as offlane hes sort of greedy, optimally you want to fight an easy lane ie duo/weak trilanes etc
as pos 1 hes pretty self sufficient so you can have supports that pull/rotate/jungler. Preferably on dire since you are closer to the hard camp
also hes rly strong against nonbulky split pushing/ 4p1 type of heroes like spectre antimage slark ember
against everything ???

Just watched EG's Doom wreck VP's.. well, everyone. Of course it was not doom alone, but he did pretty damn well.
spectre is dead, PA dead, void dead, AM fucking dead, naix lol dead,
the best counter i think is Phantom Lancer. doom have bad cast animation so you can just press W and fucking run away.
You don't want to get Aghs on the hero, so he is better against spell based carries/heroes like Invoker, Ember, Gyro etc
I would say doom is good against all escape heroes , storm, QoP, AM and so on. I played doom against QoP yesterday.
A good counter for Alchemist on Rage and Doom on Scorching Earth: Ancient Apparition's ulti.
