their behavior pattern is so godamn easy to predict and manipulate, it's hilarious.
This is true. You don't need to be good at Dota to beat unfair bots. You just need to understand the way they are programmed and then abuse that.

IIRC, the main difference in difficulty levels for bots is how better the enemy bots are in comparison to the bots in your team.
They should still be pretty predictable though, as they are just programmed anyway.

They suddenly became 8k overlords I've seen a lich&eartshaker bot combo made ragequit 2 people.
Lich uses ulti eartshaker stuns blinks in echo slams viper euls PA that was about to crit wtf man I haven't even seen those plays in normal games
