edit : previous comment about broken pic
You can actually build your own laptop? I didn't know about that, what cave am I living I'm behind times hahaha
watched the cheetah vids from https://www.dotabuff.com/topics/2016-11-09-my-projekt-finally-done
Update:
I finally found the issue with my cooling system. Both the CPU and GPU leaked hot air and since the air had a hard time coming out of the case it resulted in high temperatures. It also explained (especially on GPU side) why not a whole lot of air is coming out.
The temperatures dropped from MAX 93 to MAX 81. Thats a drop of 12 degrees, which is a LOT.
Doing some benchmarks later this evening, gonna post my patchjob and some results.
@Innocent:
It runs flawlessly.
@ImagineDodong, yeah (:
@Pilot, quite a lot of problems due to incomtabilble hardware and software that had to be modded to work. But after all fixes it runs flawlessly.
New Benchmarks are up:
CPU got OC to 3.7ghz
GPU got OC to 1055mhz core clock.
And here we go:

PogChamp
The Vantage also interesting:

So we made some improvement boys!
Little Gameplay I recorded:
Update:
So after the Overclocks I did another benchmark, data will be edited up above. I also made a little program to make my keyboard "breathe". It basiically now switches colors every 5 seconds. Looks kinda flashy. Gonna record it.
Modded the soundsystem and even tho I'm not entirely done I'm rather happy with the current result.
The bass is way better and the sound isn't as tinny as it used to be (:
how do you have almost the same if not more fps than me on witcher 3 with some notebook gpu
and whats the purpose of 32gb ram
e: nvm i have hairworks on afair
I have an overdose of ram. Still got quite some around, I thought since i got em around I might as well just build ram into every slot. I'm aware that more than 16GB is pointless.
When i turn on hairworks i drop around 5FPS due to optimizations, but i really want to have 60FPS as stable as possible. What desktop GPU do u have?
Also I'll probably upgrade to GTX 1070 this summer.
New Update:
Speakers got reworked. The sound coming from that thing is incredible now. The bass is really good and the speakers are loud and clear. They aren't as tinny as they used to be.
Due to some changes the old powersupply just doesnt do the job anymore. I had to get myself a bigger one, sadly I already had the maxed 15 inch PSU you could find, so i got myself a 17inch PSU and got myself an adapter to make it fit my 15 inch notebook.
Here is a little screenshot to give u an idea what a fucking brick you need to power that thing :D
Left: 230W PSU
Right: Standard 60W Ultrabook PSU
New modded drivers to improve the usage of the speakers and subwoofer perfecly. Now the sound is crazy good. The notebook is loud, clear, has bass and is pure sex for your ears, especially watching movies is an enjoyment, explosions are being handled by the subwoofer very nicely, music and voice mixed with subwoofer and speakers to give a good feeling of deapth, then things in the background being handles ONLY by the speakers, making it sound very real.
I'm pretty darn proud of these little speakerproject. I made a tinny, unpleasend, ear hurting sound into a full and pleasent sound experience.

So I am actually working on it again! This time new ideas and stuff I want to play around with. For those who don't know what I'm talking about:
Benchmarks:
http://3dmark.com/3dm11/11728611
http://3dmark.com/3dmv/5538028
Specs:
15.6" IPS 1920x1080 Screen
Core I7 - 4710 @ 3.5ghz turbo
32GB DD3L RAM
P157SM Board with modded BIOS
GTX 880M 8GB Custom VBIOS
256GB M.2 SSD, 512GB SSD, 1TB SSHDD
Old information: https://www.dotabuff.com/topics/2016-11-09-my-projekt-finally-done
To do:
So I already planned out a couple of things I want to play around with on my notebook. Here is the list of things I want to work on:
- Improve sound quality (building new speakers, software optimizations etc.)
- Improve cooling (GPU and CPU)
- Overclock after fixing Cooling (Goal: reach at least 9k points)
I will keep this updated a couple of times with new pics and shiet. I will also do some gaming benchmarks on the games I have (witcher 3, DOOM, Dota2, Mafia 3 and much much more.)
I will also log about how I improved performance of games so that people here can try and do that on their own rigs to gain more performance.
Also:
Still looking for a name for this project, If u got an idea go ahead tell me.
New Data and benchmarks:
Core I7 -4710MQ @ 3.7ghz
32GB DDR3L RAM @ 1600mhz
GTX 880M @ 1055 core clock; 2.85ghz memory clock.
Temperatures:
CPU Before MAX load: 91
CPU After MAX load: 84
GPU Before MAX load: 94
GPU After MAX load: 83
Gaming Benchmarks & Settings:
Mafia III:
FPS: 45 - 60FPS. It dips rather often to high 40s. Despite being unstable the timing is still really good and stable, which makes the game very smooth, even with low FPS for some reason.
Settings:
Resolution: 1920x1080
Vsync off
Ambient Occlusion: High
Motion Blur off (bugged as fuck)
Geo detail: High
Shadow Quality: High
Reflection detail: Medium (High looks exacly like medium)
Volumetric Effects: Low (High drains FPS but game looks 100% the same)
Anti Ailising: Off (Turning AA on has same FPS but makes the game VERY blurry for some reason)
Forced FXAA on in my Nvidia control panel. Game is still pixely tho.
Witcher 3:
FPS: 53 - 60FPS. FPS are rather very stable, almost never drops. Still game isn't as fluid as it should be, the frame timings are off sometimes.
Settings:
Resolution: 1920x1080
Vsync On
Everything on ultra except for foil, that's on high.
Turned hairworks off, kinda buggy and drains FPS.
Using a graphicsmod to make witcher 3 look even cleaner with better colors.
New Keyboard Lightmod (WARNING: SOUND IS TERRIBLE, DO NOT LISTEN AT HIGH VOLUME!):
Improved Sound
Sound has been improved way more, but apparently while recording the new sound my micrphone can't record the sound properly anymore. Before it used the tinny sound and focused on it and added the bass in the back, now that the sound is nice and well rounded it tries to record everything and adds noise to the actual music. If anyone knows how to fix this, let me know.
Final things done: Created new drivers that utilize the subwoofer and speakers way better, also using a completely different sound enhancer. The XFI-mB3 isn't as stable and good as i wished it to be, so i opted for the Dolby Digital V4 Home Theatre, which is very stable and very nice.
The notebook has now crazy good sound, it's better than MSI's GT 70 series. Which is saying A LOT.
New PSU needed to power it properly
