If you have alacrity focus on CS. LH as much as you can and deny your opponent's farm as much as possible. If you want to fight/kill the other midlaner make sure you are in a good position to possibly make use of every cold snap.
Dont leave mid / the two jungle camps near mid until you get midas/agha UNLESS your other lanes are doing really bad and need ganks. Otherwise just help with sunstrikes.
You should get Midas /agha 13 - 18min ingame. to make sure you dont have to use shrine that much, get a healing salve, clarity and raindrop.
The current meta favours alacrity sunstrike more than forge, since having 2 spirits only exists at level 15. The nerfs to invoker's stats at early phases discourages the notion of solo killing - it takes almost 70% of your mana pool to pull off something that may not guarantee a return. I personally feel its better to secure farm by zoning your enemy or just using alacrity's superior damage to outcs your enemy. Getting an Aghs at sub 20minutes is immensely powerful, and with lv 4 quas you can pull off a 4 spell combo easily.

Is cold snap and forge spirit the best way to solo kill the mid hero? I always have alacrity and sunstrike ready, double tap to cast alacrity on myself and quickly invoke cold snap but I still can't kill without a support rotating in to help. When I try to harass the enemy midlane with alacrity its always a trade. I always thought of harassing with alacrity and then boom meteor and cold snap but no I can't
