New mmr is based on old one. For example you are 5k, your first game will be at 5k average. After that you calibrate it in test games. Its pretty much same as lol.
and then everybody gonna be playing carry or kill stealing everybody because calibrating is all about KDA.
in my opinion this changes is too fast we got talent tree last year now this? this is too much for me
If calibration is not very powerful, as well as still only earning +/- 25 per match then it really won't change much.
The only thing it changed if the above is true, is that your MMR number is hidden behind the badge/tier/league.
However - if calibration is powerful, or they have an improved mmr system (biggest thing being adding back uncertainty in ranked)
Given a game like Dota. I feel like this would just destabilise the system completely. But ppl will feel good because they it's a chance to get unstuck.
i believe it will something like overwatch or lol system, its actually not that bad, we can get our true mmr (myslef for example, this is my main acc and i have 300 mmr, just because i started playing ranked really early and i had no idea how the game even works and... yeah, so its a really good opportunity to get 4k on this account too).
I dont have 300, but little over 1k. But surely reason is i started rank when i had no clue about game yet and im just not interestes play solo anything. So it is possible reason
so it means it wont be 3.5k max callibrate again like others?.. it would b nice if people start from 3.5k
played 2 games 10 hours ago 1-1 still got +25 and -23 and i didn't get something about the badge
the badges are coming in about two weeks and hasn't been implemented yet. For now, we're all just playing normal ranked games.
Calibration will 100% be more than just +/- 25. They have to copy LOL system where calibration games actually matter, otherwise, it has no fucking point. And no, 3.5k wont be max. As Valve said, when you play first calibration game, average of it will be based on your MMR from previous season.
Anyone know if you'll still get to see your MMR through console commands? Similar to how you can view your behavior score?

The new ranked match is a joke, if they keep the number system and don't use badge/flag/banner/whatever, i think the new ranked match is fine.
Retards complaining about the new system because they can't freeze their mmr and only play unranked afterwards xD
^ Oh yeah? Well we can just freeze our MMR, display the historic MMR on our profile and refuse to play any calibration games.
It means that boosters can do their job in just 10 games instead of however many it took them before.

there will still be a numbr, you just get a extra shiny badge added kaiko. mmr is 2 much of a hype to get out of game valve would go wrong way there.
the new mmr system will be just like your previous seasonal mmr during events (recalibration +/-some mmr around your previous value). Is not this obvious??
so how strong is calibration. if u take a 6k player on a 3k acc for the 10 games how much effect can they have?
even if 3k acc boosted by 6k players that should only be at around 4k :D i guess the system can detect it based on the previous games before he go calibration :D
lately I fought with low level smurfing account a lot in normal game. don't know why they don't want to try re-calibration first before createing new one.

New update shows which game mode your friend is in: I saw "Turbo" and "Casual". I guess Casual refers to normal all pick? Where's the new rank system? =X

RANKED SEASONS
In this update we've reworked how the matchmaking rating system works for both ranked and unranked players, changing to a six-month seasonal system. These regular seasons will ensure that MMR is both recent and accurate for all players, which will lead to better quality games for everyone.
During each season all players will earn a medal for their profile based on peak skill for that season. There are seven different medals, and within each medal there are five stars of progress to earn toward the next medal. Your current medal as well as your previous season’s medal will be displayed to all players before each match.
At the start of each season all players will recalibrate MMR, seeded by their previous season’s MMR. Your current historical preseason MMR value will be recorded and selectable in your profile, and ranked players will continue to be able to track their current seasonal MMR value.
To give everyone a chance to prepare, the first season will begin in two weeks.
