Yes. Sometimes you are gonna lose regardless of how well you played.
But don't just sum up all your losses as "unwinnable games".
On average 35-45% of your games will be unwinnable no matter what, whilst 35-45% of your games will be 'free wins' where you are likely to win regardless of how you play. The remaining 10-30% of games are ones where your performance will actually contribute to the outcome of the match. This is why players who have bought accounts and are out of their death usually have about a 35% winrate, whilst players who are climbing will have a 65% winrate.
Just don't think about winning. Think about what you should have done better in those games. Then you won't ask this question later.
I would think of dota game differently. 1 small mistake can lead to your enemies gain more and more confidence, win vibes and map control. Make them work super hard for their win.
Ofc there are unwinnable games while playing against smurf or being totaly outdrafted/outplayed or people feeding without control. But how often does it happen ? 1/10 games ?
There are games where 1 single mistake can be game losing or game wining if you dont make that 1 particular mistake. 1 best example is playing carry and their mid is rotating to gank you with dd rune. If you avoid that gank, he will feel like trash player, he lose time while your mid is farming and you are farming. But if he ganks you, their team is starting to snowball.
People thinking about the win only tend to either play too passively or too aggresively and both get punished with ease. Try to balance it.
Also picks: Try to play meta carries. Wk, Jugg, Riki, Troll, Ursa.
100% agree with @parmaviolets [muted], the only way to climb is to play a lot (while being better than your current bracket), because your skill can decide the results of 50% of your games at max. i observed 20 of my ranked matches and labeled them as 1: unwinnable 2:balanced 3:sure win the result was 6 matches unwinnable 5 matches sure win and around 9 matches balanced.
You guys make up too many theory. All games are winnable unless someone throw, or you are in top immortal bracket where you have to exploit everything you can and make no (almost no) mistake.
If you cant win games means you dont have the skill to compete in higher level. Think about improving yourself as a Dota player instead winning games.
tf r u talking about weeb, even bsj and jenkins lost in sub4k even in their stream/vods and they are 8/9k NA
My experience is as what Parmaviolets described..especially recently. Some games doesn't matter how I play we win...carried by a 30-3-10 rampage juggernaut. Checked his profile and he had like 3 rampages before on the same day with different heroes. I checked again later and he had another rampage after our game. So 5 rampages in a day. Then the next game we would get stomped by another booster/ smurf but this time on the enemy team. 70%-80% would be about right...then about 20% of the games where you actually feel like you did some contribution to the win or loss (as in the team lose cause my mistakes dragged the team down from a winnable game). Haven't seen such a proliferation of smurfs/ boosters until the recent patch.
probably doesnt do objective and then lose the game bcz of too much farming. typical lower bracket games
^beowulf that's because the new overwatch system don't let you report people for mm abuse like before
the only way for a smurf/booster to get banned now is to trigger the automatic detection by playing lycan with absurd stats (for example kowa banned an acc before doing so iirc)
I think valve will fix this or not
@etron : ya I think so too...or they trying something new with the report system. Anyway the old one was pretty good with regards to smurf. The new one has its good points too in the sense that if u keep quiete basically you can't get reported, which I think cuts out toxicity. What I don't like about it is you can't report someone for being afk or not doing his role (if you didn't report it in the first few minutes).
