orchid doesn't give enough mana regen, and it doesn't give u the same snowball effect of gaining bloodstone charges.

ive seen sumail go orchid first before, but its just very situational and almost always ur better off with bloodstone.
bloodstone also makes u actually somewhat tanky.

anyway, orchid is an awesome item against lets say weaver who is rushing deso/dragon lance, and just like anything else in dota its situational build, which also depends on how is your game going and who are you playing against. in some games orchid rush is the way to go, in some probably isnt, i rushed it mby 10% of the games. sometimes i just go for bloodstone into hex if im playing against jugg or some other manta carrier, and then after hex i go for orchid, which is always nice item to have (dmg/attack speed, easy tool to blow supports), but in general, all depends on specific game.

going with dendi's builds are generally a safe bet. And if you like walking more than zip zap zooming then orchid first is perhaps not a bad idea.
